Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread slices preferably thick-cut
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese sharp or mild, shredded or sliced
  • 4 slices bacon strips cooked until crispy
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon freshly ground preferred
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened

Equipment

  • Skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Butter knife

Method

  1. Lay out the bread slices and evenly sprinkle the cinnamon on one side of each piece, pressing lightly to help it adhere.
  2. Layer slices of cheese onto the unspiced side of two bread slices, then top with crispy bacon pieces.
  3. Place the remaining bread slices, cinnamon side up, onto the bacon-topped slices to form a sandwich.
  4. Spread the softened butter evenly on the outer sides of each sandwich, ensuring the bread is fully coated.
  5. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat until warm, then place the sandwiches in the skillet with the buttered sides down.
  6. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and crispy, then carefully flip and repeat on the other side.
  7. Continue cooking until both sides are crispy and the cheese has melted inside, filling the kitchen with the warm aroma of cinnamon and toast.
  8. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, let them rest for a minute, then slice in half and serve hot, enjoying the crispy exterior and gooey interior enhanced with subtle cinnamon notes.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne or smoked paprika alongside the cinnamon. Use thick-cut bread for better crunch. Serve with a side of pickles or a light salad if desired.
