Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the frozen meatballs on a baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake the meatballs in the oven for about 20–25 minutes until they are heated through and slightly browned on the edges.
- While they bake, combine soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped onion in a small bowl to create the glaze. Stir well to dissolve everything and blend flavors.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, sauté until translucent and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the prepared glaze mixture to the skillet and simmer until it thickens slightly and becomes sticky, about 5 minutes. You’ll notice it bubbling gently and developing a glossy sheen.
- Once the meatballs are finished baking, remove them from the oven and transfer to a large mixing bowl or directly into the skillet with the glaze.
- Pour the hot glaze over the meatballs and toss gently to coat each one evenly in the sticky sauce.
- Return the coated meatballs to the baking sheet or transfer to a serving dish. If desired, pop them back in the oven for 5 minutes to set the glaze further.
- Remove from the oven, plate, and serve hot. These meatballs are perfect with rice or noodles, garnished with chopped green onions if you like.
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, sprinkle with sesame seeds or chopped scallions before serving. This recipe works well with homemade or store-bought frozen meatballs.
