  • 1 large piece Watermelon seedless or de-seeded for easier carving
  • to taste optional Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Assorted fresh fruits for decoration berries, kiwi, or citrus slices optional

Equipment

  • Large sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. Place the watermelon on a sturdy cutting board and use a sharp knife to slice off both ends, creating flat surfaces for stability.
  2. Slice the watermelon into 1 to 1.5-inch thick rounds, aiming for even layers that resemble cake tiers.
  3. Carefully carve each slice into a decorative shape if desired, or leave them simple—using a sharp knife to remove any uneven edges enhances the cake-like appearance.
  4. Arrange the first slice on a serving platter, then gently place the second slice on top, aligning the edges for a stacked look.
  5. If desired, repeat stacking with additional slices to build a taller, layered cake structure.
  6. Decorate the top and sides of the watermelon cake with fresh berries, sliced kiwi, citrus segments, or mint leaves for added color and flavor.
  7. Refrigerate the assembled cake for about 10-15 minutes before serving to help it hold its shape and stay cool.
  8. Slice into the chilled watermelon cake with a sharp knife, revealing the vibrant, juicy interior of the layers.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing, juicy layers, perfect for hot summer days.

Notes

For a more creative look, try carving fruit shapes into the sides before stacking, or add a drizzle of honey or lime zest for extra flavor.
